Fiberklaar, the joint venture between Belgian full-service telecoms operator Proximus and Sweden’s EQT Infrastructure, has confirmed it will proceed with its planned fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment in the municipality of Geel, after more than 20% of residents subscribed to the service during a demand aggregation campaign. This will be the first city covered by Fiberklaar as part of a EUR2.5 billion (USD2.94 billion) investment in an open fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network in the Flanders region which aims to connect 1.5 million homes and businesses to fibre by 2028.
